The information discussed in session is confidential. The information that is discussed, will not be disclosed without your written consent. There are some exceptions required by law to this rule that include: - Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which mental health providers are required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately. - If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person(s), your clinician must notify the police and the intended victim. - If a client intends to harm themselves, your clinician will make a knowledgeable effort to ensure the safety of the client. However if an individual is unable to contract for safety or cooperate, mental health providers are able to ensure safety without patient permission.
